I have a problem with browsing datastores being extremely slow when I have more than one host connected. The issue was present on v5 and remains after all hosts and vCenter server upgraded to 5.1.
I only one host is connected browsing takes only a second or two to display contents. With more than one host connected browsing can take 15 - 30 seconds to display datastore folder contents.
The problem is prevalent with multiple SANs (Nexenta and Starwind). NFS and local storage is not a problem. I use dual gigabit iScsi with RR MPIO.
Performance of the datastores is not a problem either, everything works well. Just a pain to browse the datastores.
If I log in to a host directly the issue is still there as it is with logging in through vCenter server. However, if I log on to the hosts or vCenter web address and use the browse datastore links the web page displays the datastore contents without any delay whatsoever so it seems the problem is with the vsphere client datastore browser itself.
The issue is the same from multiple pcs / laptops and is also there when usung the vsphere lient installed directly on the vCenter server.
Any help or advide much appreciated.
Thanks.
