Can vSwitch/vDSwitch introduce any latency to the end to end traffic from a VM(sever) to a Physical (Client).

I am aware of the fact that physical router, switches can cause latency to to end to end traffic at time depending on network load. Just was wondering if the same can happen on VMware switches. And if so is there a way to identify it..
