Apologies my being blunt - but isnt this the entire point of Storage vMotion?
vMotion (not Storage vMotion) relies on shared storage being available to migrate VM's between ESX hosts.
Storage vMotion is supposed to allow VM's to be migrated between ESX hosts, if they both use Locally stored datastores.
