I've been trying to set up a lab at my job with a nested ESXi 5.1 on a Dell R710. When I attempt to power on a Windows 2008 R2 vm within the nested ESXi, I get a purple screen with a #PF exception 14 error. I looked it up online and saw that it has to do with a paging issue. I already set up vhv.allow = true in my physical and virtual EXi hosts and also set up monitor.virtual_exec = hardware in my virtual ESXi host. I also set up the vSwitches and Port groups to enable promiscuous mode in my physical ESXi host. The virtual ESXi host has 14 GB of RAM and the Win2k8R2 vm has 8 GB of RAM. It is the only vm within the virtual host and this problem also happens on other nested ESXi machines. Hardware version of the nested ESXi is 9.
Is there anything I can do to stop the purple screens? I'll attach the logs soon.
