no external network communication of the VM using WS9 on Windows 7

Hello all,

I have run into a problem which I have not been able to solve, yet:

system description
I am using a host computer with Windows 7 Pro SP1 client operating system (on host and VMs), VMware Workstation v9 as the virtualization software and OfficeScan v10.5 as the virus protection software (on host VMs).

configuration history
The configurations of my VMs were done without any major problems: I created a template VM with "neutral" IP node name and MAC address, cloned it several times, adjusted the node name and MAC address of each VM and renewed each Windows license key. The first four VMs worked well concerning network activities (using "ping" from outside the host, pinging other network computers and using RDP).

problem description
The other two of the VMs don't allow external network access as the other four do. It is as if they are not connected to the host-external network. So, they only "see" the other VMs of their own host system, but nothing else. A "ping" only works inside the own host.

Does anybody know of such an effect? Is there maybe a limitation for the maximum number of simultaneously usable network connections in VMware Workstation? Is there some hidden network configuration that gets changed in some situations?

Thanks.
Peter
