I have exactly the same problem, I'm using a

Windows 8, 64-bit  (Build 9200) 6.2.9200, with a

Windows XP Pro SP3 as OS guest on a

VMware® Workstation 9.0.1 build-894247.

I think it is a problem with Windows 8, since I used a VMware® Workstation 8 on Windows 7 with Windows XP Pro SP3 as OS guest and had not this

problem. I'm trying work around this problem by opening the VMware as an administrator or not, depending on where I want to drag, but it is very annoying.
